Additional BOSE (R) 321-GSX DVD Home Entertainment System SILVER Information

Home-theater surround sound is a wonderful ideal but it can be intimidating to many. First, not all homes have a rooms that can accommodate the 5 or 6 speakers required for Dolby-Digital surround. Second, the actual wiring of those speakers could be quite complicated. The concept behind Bose 3-2-1 is delivering a relevant surround experience using only 3 speakers - 2 special Gemstone array speakers and 1 Acoustimass subwoofer. There's no rear surround to contend with yet the surround effect more than compensates for the loss.

The 3·2·1 system's elegant media center orchestrates your complete home entertainment experience, including today's most popular audio and video content. It houses an integrated progressive scan DVD/CD player, AM/FM tuner and inputs for three additional sources. And the sleek media center is designed to complement the look of most plasma/LCD televisions.

Bose 3·2·1 II systems are equipped with Videostage 5 decoding circuitry to deliver home theater performance from almost any source. Even classic movies and TV programs recorded before surround sound will sound lively and room-filling. From vintage videotapes to the latest DVDs, 3·2·1 systems make a difference in all your home entertainment.

What Customers Say About BOSE (R) 321-GSX DVD Home Entertainment System SILVER:

Evidently this was not true of the older ones. My bottom line is that I will not buy Bose again (well maybe their headphones which I like). On the other hand there is no way to plug in a headphone nor an easy way to expand to accept a headphone (no audio out jacks except proprietary Bose). It is simple to set up and easy to program and use. I am uncertain how to rate this product. Plug it in and go with some very nice sound for the price. I would rate the customer service and expandability at 1 star. We did not want to deal with an entire system of components for the time being.

I perhaps should have known it before I bought it. We are trying another solution but it seems from this experience that Bose's customer service is less than stellar. On one hand I love the sound and it has worked well for us. This system does not expand well. In any case we emailed Bose about the problem and never received a reply. I would give the system 5 stars for its simplicity and sound at the price. If you still want the system knowing this you will love it based on my experience. If you are more like me then run away and find a company that plays well with others.

The sound is amazing. Since then (one week later) everything has worked beautifully.

When locally openning the tray, the system would quickly retract to close. Trying to operate the tray with the remote control revealed the second problem, the remote caused nothing at all to happen - no tray action and no on/off.

Upon returning home with my new unit from the Bose store, I was immediately confronted with two problems. Both were replaced from a new set.

After trying several times each with a new set of batteries, I called the store. The salesperson asked me to bring in the media center and the remote.

I especially like the uMusic Intelligent Playback feature. Kudos to Bose for both product and service.

And of course I made sure all settings were correct and that we were playing region 1 DVDs.This unit is going back to the store. This system really came highly rated by several people, and I did not hesitate to buy it based soley on the Bose brand. Hopefully we just got a bad unit; time will tell.Update:I contacted the local Bose store and they told me to bring the unit in and it would be looked at and possibly replaced. However, we've had it up and running since August '05 and have experienced problems playing DVDs. Everything else seems to work just fine - stereo radio has normal reception, simulated surround sound is suitable for what we wanted/expected, the CD-to-hard drive transfer and play back is slick and convenient, but movie play back seems to have a mind of it's own.Almost always right around track 13 of whatever movie we play - either from our own collection or rented from the video store - play stops and the display says either "Unsupported media" or "Cannot Read Disc". I did so and the guys there were very helpfull in logging the issue, and opened up a new unit and swapped out my defective one with the new one, saying that my warranty reset and begins that day - nice.Kudos to customer service for Bose. The new system seems to work just fine so far.
